Senate President Sweeney Presents $10K Check to Community FoodBank of New Jersey

Senate President Steve Sweeney presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Tuesday to support their efforts to feed the hungry this Holiday Season.

“The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is vital to so many families throughout the year, but takes on added importance during this time of year. While so many of us are enjoying time with our families and counting our blessings, they are ensuring that our most vulnerable residents can enjoy a meal through their many services and programs,” said Sweeney.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America, distributes food, provides education and training, develops programs to help hungry people throughout the state, and engages all sectors of society in this mission.

“I commend their tireless dedication to feeding the hungry in our state and I hope this contribution will help make the Holidays better for more New Jersey families,” said Sweeney. “We all owe them a debt of gratitude for their selfless contributions to our society.”

Since their incorporation in 1982, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey has grown in both the size and scope of their operation. Each year they and their partners feed 900,000 hungry people. With the help of so many caring individuals, corporations, foundations, houses of worship, schools and community groups, they have distributed almost 500 million pounds of food valued at roughly one billion dollars.
