Protest Planned Outside of Scott Garrett's Glen Rock Office Monday: Report

Garden State Equality upset about Garrett's recent comments on the National Republican Congressional Committee supporting gay candidates.

A prominent New Jersey gay rights organization will protest outside of Rep. Scott Garrett’s office Monday due to comments the congressman made recently regarding a national Republican committee supporting homosexuals.

Garden State Equality will protest outside of Garrett office Monday at 12:30 p.m., bluejersey.com reported.

Garrett has refused to pay his dues to the National Republican Congressional Committee because, according to him, “it actively recruited gay candidates and supported homosexuals in primaries,” published reports have quoted him as saying.

Garrett, according to bluejersey.com, co-introduced a bill, the First Amendment Defense Act, that would maintain federal benefits for people that discriminate against gays, lesbians, bi-sexual, and transgendered people.

Garrett represents New Jersey’s fifth congressional district, which includes: Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes, Glen Rock, Hillsdale, Mahwah, New Milford, Oakland, Paramus, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Westwood, Wyckoff, and most of Teaneck.
