MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A van carrying ten people went off Route 287 near Riverdale and descended an embankment early Tuesday morning, according to New Jersey State Police.

Sgt. Charles Marchan confirmed that two people, a 20-year-old from New Square, NY, and the front passenger, a 15-year-old from Monsey, NY, were seriously injured in the crash.

The driver has since been identified as Aron Dirnfeld.

According to the investigation, a northbound Ford Transit van was taking the Exit 53 ramp when it went off the road and struck a curb shortly before 3 a.m., Marchan said on Tuesday.

The van then flew through the air after crossing a grass median. It went over the entrance ramp and guardrail before hitting several trees on its way down the embankment, according to Marchan.
