28 Car Break-Ins Under Investigation In Parsippany

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Parsippany Township Police Department is currently investigating a rash of car break-ins that occurred during the early morning hours of Thanksgiving.

According to Public Information Officer Brian Conover, 28 attempted or completed vehicle burglaries took place in the parking lots of three area hotels.

Twenty cars were broken into at the Sheraton Hotel, which is located on Smith Road; four cars were broken into at the Hyatt House; and four cars were broken into at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites.

According to Conover, the suspects smashed a window in order to gain entry to the 28 vehicles.

The Parsippany Police Department has since increased patrols at all area hotel and motel parking lots.

"We urge the public to always remove valuables whenever they park their vehicle. If you cannot remove the valuables, they should be hidden out of sight so they cannot be seen from outside of the vehicle," Conover said.

All 28 incidents are currently under investigation by the township's Detective Bureau. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact 973-263-4300 or email [email protected].
