MORRIS COUNTY— The body of a Morris County boater found in Lake Hopatcong Tuesday night has been identified, authorities said.

Robert Stewart, 76, of Annandale, was found by New Jersey State Police troopers at around 7 p.m. just below the surface of the water near Brady Road in Jefferson Township, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry told Patch.

Stewart’s body was observed floating near a Cris Craft boat partially tied to the dock with the engine running, Curry said. Divers from the New Jersey State Police T.E.A.M.S. Unit recovered the body.

The man’s official cause of death is still pending autopsy results, Curry said.

“Nothing of a suspicious nature has been discovered at this time,” Curry added. The death is still under investigation.
