MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A fire engulfed a home surrounded by floodwaters in Morris County, early Tuesday morning, according to the Lincoln Park Police Department.

Police Capt. John Clements told Patch that the fire was initially reported to the police department at approximately 5 a.m. at a house on Riveredge Road near Route 202 in Lincoln Park.

Police stated that because the neighborhood is next to the Pompton River and is in a flood zone, there "wasn't much" that fire personnel could do to put out the fire because of the surrounding floodwater.

Clements said that no injuries had been reported, but that one person was home at the start of the fire, but was able to evacuate with their pet.

"It only affected that residence. No other residences were affected," Clements said.
