MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A New York man has been detained after leading New Jersey State Police on an 18-mile pursuit through Morris County early Wednesday morning, officials said.

According to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Detective Jeffrey Lebron, at 1:30 a.m., troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop on a black Nissan Altima for a moving violation on 1-80 West at milepost 43 in Parsippany-Troy Hills.

The driver, later identified as Triston Campbell, 32, of Brooklyn, initially pulled over to the right shoulder before fleeing the motor vehicle stop as the trooper approached, Lebron said.

A police pursuit lasted nearly 18 miles before the vehicle came to a stop on Drake Lane in Roxbury Township.

Campbell was arrested and charged with eluding, obstruction, resisting arrest and issued multiple motor vehicle traffic violations. He has since been lodged in Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing, Lebron said.
