PARSIPPANY, NJ — Two Parsippany men face charges after police in Massachusetts said they stole over $100,000 from an elderly woman who was looking for help to remove a virus from her computer.

The scam started on March 24 when the 78-year-old victim called a tech support number to assist with an issue with her computer, police in Yarmouth, Massachusetts said.

Nikit S. Yadav, 22, and Raj Vipul Patel, 21, demanded funds from the Yarmouth resident to remove unwanted items from her computer, police said.

Patel and Yadav were arrested after they returned to the victim’s residence on Monday evening to collect money from her.

Both men are charged with conspiracy and false pretenses larceny over $1200.

According to police, they were held overnight at the Yarmouth Police Department before being transferred to court for arraignment on Wednesday.
