Teen Driver Plows Through 2 Fences, Lands On Parsippany Turf Field

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Officials are assessing the damage to Smith Field in Parsippany after a vehicle careened off a nearby road and landed on the turf field late Monday morning.

According to Sergeant Brian Conover, the 17-year-old driver and passenger were uninjured in the crash.

Patrol units arrived at Smith Field Park, which is located at the intersection of Route 46 East and Baldwin Road, at 10:49 a.m. on Monday for a reported single-vehicle motor vehicle crash, where the car came off the roadway and crashed onto the field.

The teenage driver of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car told police that she lost control of her car as she drove left from Southbound Baldwin Road onto Route 46 Eastbound. Her car veered off the road and collided with the curb, two fences, and a 6-foot-high retaining wall.

According to Conover, the investigation into the event is still underway, and no traffic summonses have been issued at this time.
