Long-Term Summer Rentals In Northern Ocean County Becoming Less Common These Days

Younger people are leaning towards weekend rentals, using Airbnb more frequently.

For decades, it was not uncommon for families to rent Jersey Shore homes for weeks at a time during the summer months.

But things have changed. Now it's primarily millennials looking for a place to stay. And they often go online to Airbnb to book a home for a weekend, not for weeks, according to the Ocean Star.

“We don’t get any two- week rentals anymore,” said Patrick English, sales associate at Berkshire Hathaway, on Ocean Avenue. “There are no more family requests for two-week rentals. There are requests for weekly rentals but there are a lot of requests for weekend rentals,” he said.

Visitors often turn to Airbnb to find a place, rather than contacting real estate owners. The website helps homeowners rent out rooms or homes online.

Airbnb has quite a price range in Point Pleasant Beach listings, ranging from $50 a night to over $1,000 for a home with a private beach.
