PRINCETON, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch on Thursday for Princeton due to heavy rain expected throughout the day. The watch will remain in effect through 6 a.m. on Friday.

Bands of moderate to locally heavy rain will develop across the region bringing between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain throughout the day Thursday and into the evening, according to the NWS.

Rain is expected all day on Thursday and possibly into Friday before clearing up for the weekend.

Thursday: Periods of rain. Areas of fog. High near 49. East wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers after 3 a.m. Areas of fog. Low around 42. East wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. West wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night: A chance of rain showers before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of snow showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a northwest wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 29.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 57.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39.
