Heavy Rain May Soak Princeton, Flash Flood Watch Issued

PRINCETON, NJ — Heavy rain is expected to soak Princeton causing the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a flash flood watch on Wednesday.

The watch is in effect from 11 a.m. through 11 p.m. Wednesday as very slow-moving showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit this afternoon and evening. The storms may bring heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding, according to the NWS.

Looking at the forecast, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 89. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to arrive after 3 p.m. with some of the storms possibly producing heavy rain. There is a 60 percent chance of rain with a quarter and half of an inch of rainfall possible.

Tonight showers and possibly a thunderstorm will continue before 7 p.m. and a chance of more storms after 7 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain.

Friday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
