1K Still Without Power In Mercer County Due To Severe Wind

Fire, downed poles and trees were all reported on Monday due to the severe wind.

PRINCETON, NJ — Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are slammed the area hard causing power outages across Mercer County Monday. About 1,000 are still without power as of 7:35 p.m., according to JCP&L and PSE&G. Of those about 191 Princeton locals are without power.

A high wind warning was in effect for Princeton until 6 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service reported.

The Hopewell Fire Department responded to a fire related to wires at 12:20 p.m. The fire was reported at 370 Carter Road, which borders Princeton.

The Great Road is closed between Ridgeview Road and Cherry Valley Road until further notice due to trees, utility poles and wires pulled down by heavy winds. Use Cherry Hill Road as an alternate, Princeton Police report.

Mercer Road is closed between, Lovers Lane and Quaker Road due to a large tree and wires down. Both of these locations will need to be closed a minimum of several hours. Time estimates are subject to change. Use State Route 206 or State Route 1 as an alternate, police report.

Additionally, about 60 residents, are without power as a result,

JCP&L is reporting as of 7:40 p.m. No restoration time has been established as of this time.
