A winter storm watch has been issued for 12 New Jersey counties as another winter weather system is expected to impact the region this week.

The National Weather Service issued the winter storm watch for 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, saying heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of approximately one-tent-of-an inch are also possible.

The warnings could expand to the rest of the state by Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

The NWS issued the winter storm watch for Sussex, Morris, Middlesex, Somerset, Mercer, Warren, Hunterdon, eastern Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland counties.

Anyone living in areas from Washington D.C. and Baltimore to New Jersey and Philadelphia will see accumulating snow to start before transitioning to a mix of sleet, freezing rain and then rain, according to The Weather Channel.

The wintry mix could start falling just as commuters pull into their parking lots at their places of businesses between 7 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday. It is supposed to end after they pull out of their parking lots and head home.

This could make the morning and afternoon commutes in those areas hazardous. New Jersey and New York City could see a few inches of snow Wednesday before changing to rain Wednesday night, according to The Weather Channel.
