RED BANK, NJ — The Navesink Garden Club has announced its plans for the 2024-2025 season.

Founded in 1948, the club serves the Red Bank community by performing weekly care and maintenance of planters throughout downtown Red Bank, aiding preschoolers at Monmouth Day Care in planting spring bulbs and aiding residents of the Atrium in creating floral arrangements on a monthly basis.

In addition to their community service, the Navesink Garden Club also provides an annual $1,000 scholarship to a Brookdale Community College student pursuing a degree in horticulture.

Attendees are welcome to view the horticulture entries that club members will be exhibiting from 1-3 p.m., and the show will conform to the standards established by National Garden Clubs Inc.

Awards will be presented and on display, according to officials.

Flower Pounding Workshop with Carol Feinstein
On Oct. 8 at 11 a.m., Carol Feinstein will present a flower pounding workshop.

Feinstein has been teaching painting and drawing to both children and adults for over ten years, according to Navesink Garden Club member Patricia Wotton, and graduated from Montclair State University with a BFA in illustration and graphics.

According to officials, flower pounding is an ancient Cherokee art where the dye and shape of flowers and foliage are hammered into a special-treated natural fabric (wool, linen, cotton, or silk).

Autumn Wreath Workshop
On Nov. 12 at 11 a.m., Navesink Garden Club member Mary Ann Russo will present an autumn wreath workshop.

Throughout her life, officials said Russo has been an oil painter, quilter, fiber artist, dark room photographer and more. In her autumn wreath workshop, Russo will discuss how she utilized her broad art experience to create unique floral arrangements and wreaths from inspiration, improvisation and completion.

Attendees will have an opportunity to design their own autumn wreath using dried plant material to take home for the holiday season.

There will be a $10 charge to participate in the workshop, according to officials, though you can attend without making a wreath.

All Navesink Garden Club meetings take place at the Atrium on 40 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. Free valet parking is available, according to officials.
