Rumson First Republicans To Host Campaign Event April 24

Rumson Borough Council incumbents Sarah Pomphrey and John Conklin III are seeking re-election in contested Republican primary June 4.

RUMSON, NJ — The Rumson First Republican Organization announces that Sarah Pomphrey and John Conklin III are running for re-election to the Rumson Borough Council.

Plus, the Rumson First Republican Organization is running a full slate of 12 candidates for the County Republican Committee. The county nominees are led by Mayor Joe Hemphill, the organization says.

The Rumson First Republican Organization will have an event to introduce all its candidates on April 24 at Salt Creek Grille in Rumson from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., it says. Their email is [email protected]m and Facebook page is Rumson FIRST Republican Organization.

"Sarah and John are part of the team that works to maintain Rumson’s financial stability and achieve this level of sustained value," the Rumson First Republican Organization said in a statement.

It referred to the "wide range of outstanding services to all of our residents with a focus on fiscal responsibility." The organization said Rumson is one of the few Monmouth County towns to be consistently rated AAA by Moody’s Investor Services, which is their highest rating.

It noted that Rumson regularly interacts with county, state and federal officials, saying that during the past five years the Borough Council has been awarded $2.6 million in grants from county, state and federal sources to improve parks and infrastructure.

"Sarah and John’s mission is to serve all Rumson residents FIRST," the organization said.

According to unofficial filing results from the Monmouth County County Clerk, four Republican candidates are seeking election to two seats on the Rumson Borough Council in the June 4 primary election:

  • John J. Conklin, III (R) Rumson First Republican Organization
  • Sarah H. Pomphrey (R) Rumson First Republican Organization
  • Peter S. Izzo (R) Monmouth County Republican Organization
  • Stephanie L. Hoitt (R) Monmouth County Republican Organization

No one has filed to run from the Democratic party.

The two challengers - Izzo and Hoitt - are running on the Monmouth County Republican Organization line.
