101-Year-Old Former Scotch Plains Woman Dies

Carolyn S. McCullough, 101, formerly of Scotch Plains died Sunday, May 8

Somerville, NJ -- Carolyn S. McCullough, 101, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Born in Elgin, IL, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Shepherd. She was a graduate of the National College of Education in IL where she received her BA in Education.

Carolyn lived in Plainfield, Scotch Plains and North Plainfield before moving to Somerville four years ago. She was a former member of the United Church on Christ/ Congressional in Plainfield. An avid Yankee’s fan, she also enjoyed walking, traveling, doing crossword puzzles and most importantly, being with her family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in 1996; birth mother, Elizabeth Murray; grandson, Charles D. Wheeler, great-grandson, Ryan E. Wheeler; siblings, Thomas Shepherd, Loie Lawrence and Nan Jean Beck.

She is survived by her beloved children, Jane McCullough of Somerville, Dr. Sue A. Wheeler of Las Vegas, NV, Jill Palladino and husband Albert of Big Pine Key, FL; grandchildren, Donald Wheeler, Christopher Palladino, Heather Palladino and great-grandson, Christopher Wheeler.

A graveside service will be held 1 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Arrangements are by Bridgewater Funeral home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
