Shaking Things Up: Earthquakes and What They Mean for New Jersey
Thursday, August 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
You probably remember where you were on April 5, 2024 when much of New Jersey felt a 4.8 magnitude earthquake! Did you know that the state has experienced over 200 smaller quakes since then?
Join us at the Library for a talk by TCNJ professor Shannon Graham!
Wondering what you should know about these earth-shaking events? A specialist in geophysics, she’ll be covering:
What causes earthquakes?
Why do they happen in New Jersey?
Can we predict them?
What is currently being done to study them?
And what should I do if I experience one?
Her presentation will answer all of these questions, along with any others you may have related to earthquakes and their hazards!
Registration is recommended.
