Chef Paula Shoyer to Visit Congregation Beth Israel for Cooking Demo

Scotch Plains Synagogue to Hold Shavuot Cooking Demonstration With Kosher Chef and Baker Paula Shoyer

Internationally acclaimed Kosher chef and baker, Paula Shoyer, will conduct a cooking demonstration and tasting at Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains on Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m. The foods prepared will be particularly appropriate for the upcoming Jewish holiday of Shavuot, when it is traditional to eat a dairy meal. The event is sponsored by the Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Israel and is open to the community.

Paula Shoyer is a French-trained pastry chef who teaches cooking and baking classes around the world. Her recipes have been featured in newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs and on radio and television shows across the country. Her cookbooks include: The Kosher Baker; The Holiday Kosher Baker; The New Passover Menu; The Healthy Jewish Kitchen; and The Instant Pot Kosher Cookbook.

Paula Shoyer will demonstrate how to prepare: gluten-free cheese blintzes; quinoa and beet salad; golden tomato soup; and rugelach.

“We are so excited to welcome Paula back to our community,” said Marcia Wiener, event chair at Congregation Beth Israel. “Paula has visited us both in person and virtually during the pandemic, and we’ve had a blast each time. Paula’s cookbooks, with their delicious and innovative recipes, have become staples in Kosher homes.”
