Congregation Beth Israel To Hold Community Hanukkah Celebrations

Scotch Plains Synagogue to Hold Free Hanukkah Events Open to the Public

Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) in Scotch Plains announces several Hanukkah celebrations that are free and open to the community: a Hanukkah Tot Shabbat; a Family Hanukkah Party; and a Community Hanukkah Event with Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim (TBEMC) in Cranford.

CBI will hold a special Hanukkah-themed Tot Shabbat on Friday evening, December 16, at 5:30 p.m. Geared for children ages 0-5 with their families, this Hanukkah Shabbat experience will feature songs, stories and holiday treats. CBI is located at 18 Shalom Way, Scotch Plains (corner of Martine Avenue). To register for the Hanukkah Tot Shabbat, as well as any additional monthly Tot Shabbats, go to cbinj.org/event/tot2223.

CBI’s Family Hanukkah Party, appropriate for children and adults of all ages, will be held on Sunday, December 18, at 9:30 a.m. The morning will feature an audience participation game show, run by Hollyrock Entertainment. There will also be arts and crafts and traditional Hanukkah treats, such as latkes and donuts. Register at cbinj.org/event/hanukkahfamily22.

On Tuesday, December 20 at 6:15 p.m., CBI and TBEMC in Cranford will co-host a Community Hanukkah Event at the Cranford synagogue, located at 338 Walnut Avenue. The program, suitable for all ages, will feature a DJ, dancing, and donuts. Participants will join together to light the Hanukkah Menorah as a community. Register at tbemc.org/rsvp.

“We are excited that this year we’ll have several different opportunities to come together as a community to bring some light to the world and celebrate Hanukkah,” said Aviva Tilles, Director of Congregational Learning and Programming at Congregation Beth Israel.
