Internationally acclaimed Kosher chef and baker, Paula Shoyer, will conduct a cooking demonstration and tasting at Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) in Scotch Plains on Wednesday, September 27, at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Israel and is open to the community.

Paula Shoyer will demonstrate how to prepare: lentil and squash soup; beet and quinoa salad; charred cauliflower with orange vinaigrette; and Israeli chocolate rugelach. This hearty fall menu will be particularly appropriate for the upcoming week-long celebration of Sukkot, when it is traditional to eat festive meals outdoors in a Sukkah, a temporary hut constructed for the holiday.

Paula Shoyer is a French-trained pastry chef who teaches cooking and baking classes around the world. Her recipes have been featured in newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs and on radio and television shows across the country. Her cookbooks include: The Kosher Baker; The Holiday Kosher Baker; The New Passover Menu; The Healthy Jewish Kitchen; and The Instant Pot Kosher Cookbook.
