Congregation Beth Israel to Hold Open House for Prospective Members

Scotch Plains Synagogue to Hold Open House During its End-of-Year Celebration

Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) in Scotch Plains will hold an open house for prospective members on Sunday, May 21, at 10:30 am. Prospective congregants will have the opportunity to tour the synagogue and to meet CBI’s clergy, professional staff, lay leaders, and teachers.

The open house will take place during the synagogue’s end-of-year celebration, which will feature a DJ, photo booth, food and the ice cream Scream truck. The event, which is suitable for children of all ages, is free and open to the community.

“After an amazing school and programming year, we are excited to celebrate everything that we as a community accomplished and to just enjoy spending time with one another,” said Aviva Tilles, CBI’s Director of Congregational Learning & Programming. “We’re also excited to welcome potential new members and to introduce them to the students, families, teachers, and volunteers that make up our close-knit synagogue community.”

Registration for the 2023-2024 Religious School year is scheduled to open in the second week of May. Congregation Beth Israel educates students from pre-K through twelfth grade through experiential grade-specific programs that encompass the family in its curriculum.

Congregation Beth Israel does not require synagogue membership for children to attend its Religious School for programs through second grade. However, families with children below third grade have the option of joining the synagogue at a reduced rate and enjoying full benefits of synagogue membership, including High Holiday tickets.
