Fanwood 5K Superhero Run, Family Fun Run Is Saturday

FANWOOD, NJ — The 8th Annual Fanwood 5K Superhero Run & Family Fun Run will be held at LaGrande Park on Saturday.

Hosted by the Fanwood Recreation Commission, the run will begin at 4 p.m. Prior to that, the one-mile Family Fun Run will begin at 3:30 p.m. All runners, including children, are welcome to dress up as their favorite costumed characters.

The first 100 participating children in the Fun Run race will receive a superhero cape and mask. Donated by Sheelan's Crossing Pub & Bistro, all runners, 21 years of age and older who provide proof of registration of the race, may redeem a select beverage at the pub after the race. Music and free refreshments will await all finishers after the race.

Those who are interested can still register online through midnight on Oct. 19. People can also register on Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at pre-registration check in or on race day starting at 2:30 p.m.; however, the price increases to $30 for the 5K race.

All proceeds from the event go to the Fanwood Recreation Department to help purchase new playground equipment, build new recreation facilities and expand recreational programs for all local residents. Those interested can register to run at fanwood5k.org.
