Free Tree Seedlings To Be Available In Fanwood

Here is where and when you can pick up your free tree seedling in Fanwood​ and Union County:

FANWOOD, NJ — In an effort to bring back trees to the area following Hurricane Sandy the New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign is offering free seedlings in Fanwood.

You can pick up free seedlings from 4 to 4:30 p.m. April 26 at Carriage House Park, Watson Road, Fanwood. If you can't make it, there will be other pickup dates throughout Somerset County in April.

To date, more than 332,982 trees have been distributed around New Jersey through this program, according to the Arbor Day Foundation. The New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign partners with the New Jersey Forest Service.

Here is a full list of tree seedling pick-up locations and dates in Union County:

  • Clark Township, April 27, 9 a.m. to noon, Public Work Facility, behind the Police Department, 315 Westfield Ave.
  • Fanwood Borough, April 26, 4 to 4:30 p.m., Carriage House Park, Watson Road
  • Mountainside Borough, April 27, 9 a.m., Borough Hall, 1385 Route 22 East
  • New Providence, April 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., New Providence Memorial Library, 377 Elkwood Ave, New Providence
  • Springfield Township, April 26, 10 a.m., Veterans Memorial Park, Corner of Mountain Avenue and Shunpike Road
