SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The National Weather Service is predicting a wintery mix of rain and sleet on Friday in Scotch Plains.

Rain is expected to begin on Thursday and continue into Friday when it will mix with sleet, and possibly snow. Temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 20 degrees Friday night.

Thursday Night

Rain. Patchy fog before 1am. Steady temperature around 46. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday

Rain before 1pm, then freezing rain. Temperature falling to around 30 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. West wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.

Friday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
