The 2024 New Jersey YMCA Gymnastics League State Championship meets were held at the Somerville and Madison Area YMCA on Saturday May 18th and Sunday, May 19th, 2024. Fanwood Scotch Plain YMCA had 3 Levels that competed: Silver, Gold and Platinum.

The Excel Silver Level team competed first on Saturday late afternoon. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains gymnasts placed 4th behind the Somerville Y hosts, who captured the second place trophy in all divisions. The FSPY gymnasts had many strong individual performers. Competing in their first year, Lily Romond placed 6th All Around for the 8-9 yr old age group and received a Judges award for Best Tumbling, Dance and Beautiful Expression on Floor. Kate Clark placed 5th All Around in the 10 yr old Age group, Cailee Rudyk placed 7th and Gabby Tezucar placed 9th All Around in the Age 11 year old age group.
Excel Gold Level Team competed Sunday morning with much of team placing in their age groups. Charlotte Alagia placed 3rd in Vault and 6th All Around in the 9-10 Age Group. In the 11 year old age group, Yashika Rastogi placed 2nd on Vault, 3rd on Bars and 6th All Around. Emma Papernik placed 4th in both Bars and Floor, and 7th in all around. And Ryley Mathisen placed 5th on Floor. Mia Sheier rounded out the FSYPY contingent competing well in all four events and placing 6th in the 12 year old age group. The Excel Gold Level Team placed 4th as a team.

The Excel Platinum Level team ended the Sunday competition with earning 3rd place as a team. Milan Fevrier earned 2nd place on Beam, 4th in Vault and Uneven Bars in the 10-13 age group. Avery Salinger placed 4th all around in the 14-15 age group showing a strong performance in all four events for team FSPY.
Our FSPY team will be attending the YMCA National Championship meet hosted by the Willow Grove YMCA, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA June 21-24th. All gymnasts received a qualifying score of 33.0 to compete.

This is a great time to begin taking gymnastics at the YMCA! Registration for summer classes begin June 10th. There are many new options this year, including Tumbling, Dance, and weekly sports clinics.
