New Hair Salon 'Blowout Lab' Opens In Fanwood

The new salon, offering blowouts, updos and bridal styles, had its ribbon-cutting in Fanwood on Wednesday.

FANWOOD, NJ — Those looking for a new hair salon can look no further than Fanwood, as The Blowout Lab recently opened across the street from the train station.

Located at 232 South Avenue, owners Nicole Russo and Dana Califano of Blowout Lab are bringing blowouts, updos, dry styles, braids and bridal styles to their bright, new shop in Fanwood's business district.

Mayor Colleen Mahr, Councilwoman Kathy Mitchell, Development Director Liz Jeffery and Chamber of Commerce CEO Gene Jannotti officiated at the ribbon cutting on Wednesday, according to an announcement by Tom Kranz.

Califano is a Scotch Plains resident, and Russo is a commuter from Brooklyn. The owners' friends and family also attended the ribbon-cutting on Wednesday.

Mayor Mahr said the Blowout Lab is a business unique to Fanwood.

"It's a great time for a business like this," Mahr said. "The holidays are coming. Down the road, girls will come here for prom and graduation."
