"Things to do during the storm: Stay inside, if you must drive keep emergency supplies in your vehicle and be comfortable driving in snow conditions. 4WD is great for getting you started but does nothing for stopping. In the event of power loss, do not operate generators indoors.
After the storm: Drive only if needed. Remove all snow from your vehicle before driving. Avoid over exertion while clearing/shoveling snow. Be aware of any possible downed trees, limbs or utility poles and stay away from any wires down," police said.

Fanwood

Fanwood also issued the following information for residents:

  • Residents must remove ALL vehicles from the roadway to allow the DPW to effectively and efficiently perform snow removal operations.
  • Residents should ensure that they do NOT shovel or snow blow their snow back into the roadway after it has been plowed as this creates a hazardous condition.
  • Borough Code 259-22 states that residents shall remove all snow and ice from any sidewalk in front of their property within 12 hours of daylight after the snow has fallen or formed.

AccuWeather warned of major disruptions to travel and even travel shutdowns, as well as shipping delays, school closings and power outages from this "blockbuster storm," – even though a number of New Jersey school districts have said they'll opt to go remote instead of closing.
