Scotch Plains-Fanwood Memorial Day Festivities

The Township of Scotch Plains and Borough of Fanwood will host its annual Memorial Day Weekend festivities on Sunday and Monday.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — The Township of Scotch Plains and Borough of Fanwood will host its annual Memorial Day Weekend festivities on Sunday and Monday.

The events will start with a Memorial Day Concert “A Tribute to Fallen Heroes”, on Sunday at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the North Side lawn of the Fanwood Train Station.

The concert, performed by the Westfield Community Band, will also include readings from several community’s veterans.

On Monday, there will be a special ceremony at The Gazebo on Park Avenue and Front Street at 10 a.m. and the Memorial Day Parade will follow that.

The theme for this year’s parade is “Remember and Honor All Those Who Sacrificed," which will recognize the dedication, commitment and sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces who have defended the nation and continue to protect the country.

The popular Memorial Day Parade Float Contest will be included in this year’s parade. There will be prizes awarded for the top three floats: 1st Place $750; 2nd Place $500; and 3rd Place $300.
