Scotch Plains High School Production Nominated For Rising Star Award

The high school's production of "Les Miserables" was nominated for a Rising Star Award by the Paper Mill Playhouse.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Paper Mill Playhouse, a theater in Millburn, has announced the 2022 nominees for its statewide Rising Star Awards, given to those who participate in high school theater, and a Scotch Plains High School production has made the list.

The high school's production of "Les Miserables" was nominated for the coveted prize of Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical.

This year's nominees were announced on May 2. The winners will be announced live on June 6.

The other nominees and honorable mentions are as follows:

  • Clearview Regional High School, Mullica Hill, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"
  • Columbia High School in Maplewood, "Newsies"
  • Immaculate Heart Academy, "Legaly Blonde"
  • Ridge High School, Basking Ridge, "Matilda"
  • Summit High School, "Footloose"
  • West Milford Township High School, "Anastasia"

There were also nominations for actors, actresses, the orchestra, chorus, teacher, director, scenery and more.

Award Announcements

Tickets to the live Rising Star Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 6 will be made available to final nominees via their school contact on May 4.

The Rising Star Awards will be livestreamed for free on Monday June 6 at 7:30 p.m.
