Scotch Plains Man Arrested In Connection With Stabbing Roommate: Cops

Westfield Police arrested the man after reports of a stabbing. His roommate was found with injuries to his hand and back, police said.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Westfield Police charged a Scotch Plains man in connection with the stabbing of his 43-year-old roommate, according to Scotch Plains Police.

Nelson E. Sanchez, 48, was arrested and charged with possession of weapons for unlawful purpose and assault on May 6, Scotch Plains Police wrote in its recent blotter report.

Upon arrival, officers found that Sanchez's 48-year-old roommate had injuries to his hand and back. Police said it was determined that both people had been drinking and an argument ensued, at which time Sanchez assaulted the roommate and fled the scene.

Sanchez was later located and arrested by the Westfield Police Department on Lamberts Mill Road, police said.

Emergency medical personnel responded but did not send the victim to the hospital, according to police.
