Tonight's sky offers a view of the stars, constellations and a very rare and spectacular sight— the Red Planet, according to Space.com.

Tonight will be the closest Earth has come to Mars in the last 10 years months, EarthSky.org, says, and stargazers will be able to see the fascinating sight if they just look up.

Universe Today reports that Mars was named by the ancient Greeks after the Roman god of war because they associated Mars with bloodshed and war due to its blood red color.

So when is the best time to see the extraordinary sight?

Mars rises in the East at 8:10 p.m. EDT and sets in the West at 5:35 a.m. EDT, so will be visible above the horizon for 9 hours and 25 minutes, Space.com states.

Close to midnight local time will be prime time for viewing, the website states, and viewers will able be able to see Saturn and the bright-red star Antares nearby. The Red Planet will appear to look triple in diameter.
