Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Union County

Heavy rain, damaging winds and frequent lighting are predicted in Union County Monday evening, according to the NWS.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Union County is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS predicts showers and thunderstorms are likely to begin after 5 p.m. Damaging winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning are also predicted for the evening.

A southwest wind of seven to 10 miles per hour is expected, as well, with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour. The chance of participation is 70 percent.

New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are also possible, according to the NWS.
