Socially Distanced Scotch Plains Weekend To Kick Off Oct. 2

The weekend will include a family movie night, Rose Checchio Walk to Wipeout Breast Cancer, and expanded curbside dining with music.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — "Scotch Plains Weekend" will return this year with a twist as social distancing will be enforced due to the coronavirus.

The Scotch Plains Weekend will run from Oct. 2, 3 and 4 at Scotch Plains Town Hall and Park Avenue as a way to kick start the fall season.

  • Friday, Oct. 2 – Family Movie Night featuring the spooky classic Beetlejuice is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 3 – Play for P.I.N.K. Rose Checchio Walk to Wipeout Breast Cancer steps off at 9 a.m. In honor of the late Councilwoman, the walk registration is open for adults for $15 and children $5 at playforpink.org/rosechecchiowalk. This event is a part of the Mayor’s Wellness Program series and will count for 2 points for participants.
  • Sunday, Oct. 4 - Annual Scotch Plains Day event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Park Avenue and the Village Green. The event will feature expanded curbside dining availability as well as picnic area seating to enjoy music and entertainment in front of Town Hall. Highlighting this year’s event will be the 12 pm Mayor’s Gala Award ceremony which will highlight Female Volunteer of the Year Carmella Resnick, Male Volunteer of The Year Daniel Sullivan and Organizations of the Year Immaculate Heart of Mary Food Pantry and Fanwood Scotch Plains Rotary Club. Park Avenue will remain closed until 6 p.m. for expanded outdoor dining from Scotch Plains restaurants.
