FANWOOD, NJ - A string of scammers “selling” Taylor Swift tickets at a discounted price are targeting local community Facebook groups, including pages in Scotch Plains and Fanwood, authorities said.

Several fraud reports have been filed regarding a scam selling tickets for the pop artists’ highly-anticipated 2023 “The Eras” tour, police said, with two stops in the New Jersey area at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia this spring.

The scam involves Facebook accounts reporting to sell Taylor Swift tickets at a 4 for $300 discount, Fanwood police said in a statement Sunday. It’s an attractive price compared to the $700 single-ticket going rate for Swift tickets on StubHub.

One of the scam accounts frequenting Scotch Plains and Fanwood pages goes by the name Pat Andreoni, police said, adding that residents have been sending money to the accounts and not receiving the tickets in return.

“If you are in the market for tickets to ANY concert or show, please utilize legitimate online vendors, or buy them from people you KNOW,” Fanwood police said.

Last year, the Hackettstown Police Department said it received a complaint from a 30-year-old resident who reported she was scammed out of at least $1,480 after buying a fake Taylor Swift concert ticket, authorities said. Read more: Taylor Swift Ticket Scam Costs NJ Woman $1,480: Police
