Power Restoration Not Expected For Days In Scotch Plains, Fanwood

Tropical Storm Isaias caused more than 5,000 residents to lose power on Tuesday, according to PSE&G.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Tropical Storm Isaias caused thousands of residents in Scotch Plains and Fanwood to be without power. Restoration may not be expected for days.

PSE&G is reporting more than 4,220 residents in Scotch Plains and 1,416 residents in Fanwood are without power as of 6:15 p.m. Power is expected to be restored by Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

There is a total of 43,433 PSE&G customers in Union County without power and 21,311 JCP&L customers in the county without power as of 6:30 p.m.

"Residents please stay home and off of the roads. Fanwood has multiple power outages and trees down. Please keep the roads clear for First Responders to be on road. If you have elderly neighbors please check on them and contact the Fanwood Police Department if you have concerns about your neighbors or have an emergency to report. Stay safe," Fanwood Police shared on Tuesday.

Trees were also knocked down throughout the area including on Church Avenue in Scotch Plains, as pictured.

A flash flood watch, tornado watch, and tropical storm warning were issued for Union County on Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Isaias.

As a result of the storm, the New Jersey MVC announced through its website that all agency locations were closed Tuesday.
