Winter Storm Watch Issued, Weekend Outlook For Union County

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A winter storm watch has been issued for Union County from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening by the National Weather Service.

Here is a look at what to expect this weekend:

Saturday: Snow, mainly after 4 p.m. High near 34. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. North wind 5 to 9 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night: Snow and freezing rain before 1 a.m., then freezing rain and sleet between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then rain and sleet after 4 a.m. Low around 30. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. East wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Sunday: Rain or freezing rain before 10 a.m., then freezing rain and sleet likely between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then a chance of snow after 1 p.m. Temperature falling to around 23 by 5 p.m. North wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
