Secaucus DPW Employee, His Girlfriend Charged With Forgery

Police say the two forged documents pertaining to his payroll deductions inside Secaucus town hall last week:

SECAUCUS, NJ — A Secaucus town employee and his girlfriend have been criminally charged with forgery, Secaucus Police announced Monday in the latest town police blotter (Aug. 5 - Aug. 11).

The employee is Robert Williams, 59, who works for the Department of Public Works. He and his girlfriend, Jasmine Lopez, 51, of Newark, were arrested last Thursday, Aug. 8.

Police say the two forged town payroll documents to appear as if they were from a Superior Court judge, pertaining to Williams' wage deductions. Williams then submitted the forged documents to the town payroll department, allege police.

Police say they forged the documents inside Secaucus town hall last week.

Williams, a Linden, NJ resident, was arrested last Thursday and charged two counts of forgery in the second degree, two counts of forgery in the third degree, two counts of tampering with public records and conspiracy to tamper with public records.

Lopez was arrested later that same day and charged with two counts of forgery in the second degree, two counts of tampering with public records and conspiracy to tamper with public records. She does not work for the town of Secaucus.

Both were arrested at Secaucus Police headquarters inside town hall (1203 Paterson Plank Road) last Thursday morning. Both were were issued their complaint summonses and were released from police custody.

Williams is not being paid by the town of Secaucus while his criminal charges are pending, said town administrator Gary Jeffas.
