Road Closed In Summit Due To Gas Pipe Replacement Project

Several roads will be impacted by the PSE&G project over the next week.

SUMMIT, NJ — PSE&G is currently replacing gas pipes throughout Summit, and several roads will be impacted.

Fernwood Road is closed between Hillcrest Avenue and Woodfern Road until 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Work is expected to be complete by early summer 2023 depending on project progress over the winter. PSE&G crews will be replacing mains and services on the following streets in Summit over the next week:

Hillcrest Avenue between Bellevue Avenue and Woodland Avenue
Hillcrest Avenue between Woodmere Drive and Fernwood Road
Hartley Road between Canoe Brook Parkway and Woodland Avenue
Hawthorne Place between Beechwood Road and Shadyside Avenue
Whittredge Road between Hobart Avenue and Essex Road
Rotary Lane between Rotary Drive and Rotary Drive

Road closures and detours will be in effect, and Summit Police will be onsite to direct traffic. Work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting.
