TOMS RIVER, NJ — A boater who was headed south got lost in the fog and wound up on the beach in Ortley Beach over the Memorial Day weekend, Toms River police said.

The boat was reported overturned and abandoned at the end of Holiday Road near Dune Terrace on Saturday, Lt. Gene Bachonski said.

Authorities found the Hydra-Sports boat anchored to the beach with two anchors and no one around it, he said.
