Fire Destroys Homeless Person's Camp Site In Toms River

The fire is under investigation, authorities said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed the campsite of a local homeless person, Toms River police said.

The fire, in the woods along Highland Parkway behind the Kohls Shopping Center, was reported at 4:34 p.m. on June 7, police said.

The Toms River Fire Company responded with its fire engine and brush truck and put the fire out. There were no injuries.

The Red Cross responded to help the people affected by the fire, police said.

Toms River Fire Investigator Stalowski and Toms River Police Detective Quinn are investigating. Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact Quinn at 732-349-0150, ext. 1361.
