WARREN, NJ — The Warren Township Democratic Committee announced they will be replacing their candidate in the Nov. 8 general election for Town Committee.

Ashok Rakhit of 6 Nottingham Way will replace Kimberly Dunn-Meynell as the Democratic candidate.

"With the Republican civil war in town, we saw a unique opportunity to bring much needed change, and so we felt a candidate with experience on the Somerset County planning board would be what voters are looking for in 2022," said Carol Senff of the Warren Township Democratic Committee.

Rakhit, a retired pharmaceutical executive and entrepreneur, is a 22 year resident of Warren Township. He also is currently serving on the County Planning Board.

"I want to help build an administration that seeks the input of residents, sets an environment of open dialogue, and is transparent in its decision making, I love this town and this community, and I want to make sure that our children will choose Warren as a home to raise their families, just like I did," said Rakhit.

"We appreciate all that Kim has done to help build our Democratic organization, and we are thrilled that she will continue to contribute to our campaign this year by serving as Deputy Campaign Manager," said Patti O’Byrne, Warren Township Democratic Chairwoman. "There is no doubt that residents of Warren are looking to make a change in local leadership. The mismanagement of development, as evidenced by the recent lawsuit related to the former Chubb property, is a major concern. There is a total lack of transparency in how the township committee operates. I am confident that voters will respect Ashok’s educational and professional credentials and recognize his leader capabilities. He has a passion to bring responsive, accountable leadership to the Township Committee."
