$10M Project To Improve Busy Wayne Intersection: Report

The intersection of Hamburg Turnpike and Alps Lane is set to undergo a project to improve traffic flow, according to a report.

WAYNE, NJ – Passaic County plans to use eminent domain to complete a $10 million project aimed at improving traffic flow surrounding a busy Hamburg Turnpike intersection, according to a report.

The state funded project includes adding two jug handles, three new traffic signals and widening Hamburg Turnpike near Alps Lane, NorthJersey.com reported. The plan also calls for the elimination of left turns at the intersection.

The county is still discussing easements and acquisitions with about two dozen affected properties, the paper reported.

A contract will be awarded in 2020 and work should take two years to complete, the paper reported.
