Wayne Motor Vehicle Center Extends Closure After COVID Test

The Wayne Licensing Center will remain closed until Dec. 31 after an additional employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

WAYNE, NJ — The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission announced an extension of the Wayne Licensing Center closure after an additional employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Announced Monday evening, the facility will be closed until Dec. 31, the NJMVC said.

Originally scheduled to reopen Thursday, the closure has been extended after the NJMVC said the additional test required a "revised timeline for staff quarantine."

There are 13 MVC Centers currently closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 at each location. These centers are scheduled to reopen on the following dates:

  • Wallington Vehicle Center – Wednesday, Dec. 23
  • Edison Licensing Center – Thursday, Dec. 24
  • Bayonne Licensing Center – Saturday, Dec. 26
  • Paterson Regional/Licensing Center – Saturday, Dec. 26
  • Vineland Licensing Center – Saturday, Dec. 26
  • Turnersville Vehicle Center – Saturday, Dec. 26
  • Jersey City Vehicle Center – Saturday, Dec. 26
  • Somerville Vehicle Center – Saturday, Dec. 26
  • Wayne Licensing Center – Thursday, Dec. 31
  • Newark Regional/Licensing Center – Thursday, Dec. 31
  • Rahway Licensing Center – Thursday, Dec. 31
  • East Orange Vehicle Center – Thursday, Dec. 31
  • North Bergen Licensing Center – Saturday, Jan. 2

This comes as the NJMVC announced a closure at the North Bergen Licensing Center, also on Monday.
