Truck Hits, Kills Man Walking In South Jersey Roadway: Police

A Florida man was hit while walking along the shoulder at night, authorities said.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A truck fatally struck a man who was walking along the shoulder of a roadway early Monday morning in Gloucester County, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 12:05 a.m on Mullica Hill Drive, around the Route 55 overpass in Harrison Township, police said. A 2011 International 4000 box truck was traveling westbound on Mullica Hill Road when it hit a pedestrian who was walking along the westbound shoulder, authorities said.

The pedestrian — Joseph Logrande, 67, of Tampa, Florida — was brought to Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Harrison Police Sgt. Kurt Pflugfelder is conducting the ongoing investigation.

State Police, Gloucester County EMS, the Harrison Township Fire District, and Mantua and Woolwich police assisted the Harrison Township Police Department.
