Boat Fire Ignites In Resident's Driveway In Union County

Due to the presence of numerous gallons of gasoline in the boat, multiple emergency responders were called to help.

KENILWORTH, NJ — Fire crews doused an early-evening blaze that broke out on a boat docked in a resident's driveway in Kenilworth on Thursday, according to first responders.

At around 5:43 p.m., the Kenilworth, NJ Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad were called to Franklin Avenue on the report of a fully involved boat fire in a resident's driveway.

Crews immediately began to extinguish the fire however "due to the presence of numerous gallons of gasoline in the boat, Union Township Fire Department was requested for a foam engine" to help.

Union County Hazmat also responded to the scene.

The fire was quickly placed under control and there was no damage to any nearby structures. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to Kenilworth Fire and Rescue Squad.
