On July 9th, we will hear about Advances in Cancer Research (Zoom presentation). Our speaker will be Pat Morin, PhD, Deputy Scientific and Communications Director for the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. He will discuss the history of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, its programs, and the current developments in cancer research.
The Summit Area Old Guard is a social, educational, and recreational organization that serves men of retirement age. We meet most Tuesdays at the New Providence Presbyterian Church located at 1307 Springfield Ave. Our dues are minimal, and members manage all aspects of the operation. Our motto is “Come for the Programs. Stay for the Friends.” The organization was founded in 1930.

Summit Old Guard Speaker Program - Advances in Cancer Research

Westfield Memorial Library

In this workshop, local artist and instructor Joy Lara will teach you how to make handmade cards using collage papers.
Workshops are designed for seniors (ages 65+) with little or no artistic experience.
Each workshop will be self-contained and requires separate registration. Students may take the workshop multiple times, dependong on demand. Registration will open exactly two weeks prior to the workshop.
This year-long series of art instruction workshops is made possible by funds from the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library, and the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Presented in partnership by the Westfield Art Association, Lifelong Westfield, the Westfield Regional Health Department, and the Westfield Memorial Library.

Christopher Fiore The Summit Area Old Guard is a social, educational, and recreational fellowship of active men of retirement age, founded in 1930. We hear presentations most Tuesday mornings in an auditorium in New Providence, and we have many other activities. Our dues are minimal, and members volunteer for all aspects of the operation. Our motto is “Come for the programs. Stay for the friends.” Guests are always welcome to attend and to learn about our organization.

An evening of rejuvenation and holistic wellness is set to take place as the much-anticipated <a href="https://www.citizenmobilemassage.com/event-details-registration/self-care-social-1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Self Care Social 2024 </a>returns to Quimby Street in downtown Westfield. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 18, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Following the resounding success of last year’s event, which drew hundreds of participants, <a href="https://www.citizenmobilemassage.com/event-details-registration/self-care-social-1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Self Care Social </a>has expanded to include a diverse range of new experiences and offerings. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant evening filled with opportunities to explore local holistic services, participate in engaging classes, and immerse themselves in a community dedicated to self-care and well-being.
The event will begin with a dazzling free Athleta Fashion Show, presenting the latest in activewear and wellness fashion. Westfield’s largest wellness market is the crux of the event, featuring over 30 vendors offering a variety of holistic products and services, from beauty and skincare to acupuncture and Pilates. To wrap up the event, a flash mob yoga session will take place on Quimby Street, suitable for all levels and guaranteed to leave participants feeling invigorated and connected. Attendees can enhance their experience further by signing up for exclusive interactive classes and keynote sessions, which, despite a small fee, provide invaluable insights and practices to enrich their wellness journey.

The Pablo Lanouguere Trio will perform in concert on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 7:30pm at the popular Latin Jazz @ Galeria music series in Westfield, NJ. This intimate live music event, presented by TEATRO Si brings to you selections from composer Pablo Lanouguere’s recent music albums, Eclectico &amp; Altar and more.
Accomplished Argentinian bassist Pablo Lanouguere is joined by Grammy award winning drummer Paul Francis and guitarist Javier Madrazo from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Together they bring their critically acknowledged sounds to the stage at GALERIA The Art Venue, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. 
This talented music trio transports the audience employing elements of Argentine Tango &amp; Folklore, threaded with elements of Jazz, Latin, Contemporary &amp; Classical music.
Refreshments will be available for your enjoyment.
