WESTFIELD, NJ — The latest police blotter included incidents of car burglaries, DWI arrests and fraud.

On June 30 at 1:45 a.m.: A resident reported a burglary to their motor vehicle parked in a private parking lot in the area of the 500 block of Springfield Avenue. The victim's vehicle was locked during the time of this incident. The victim reported about $345 worth of property removed from their vehicle. Suspect(s) smashed the front window of the victim’s vehicle to gain entry. The suspect(s) left the area in a white colored BMW SUV, which was later discovered to be a stolen motor vehicle from another jurisdiction.

On June 30 at 1:45 p.m.: A resident reported a motor vehicle burglary in the area of the 500 block of Springfield Avenue. Specifically, the victim stated that their personal vehicle was burglarized, and property was removed from their vehicle while parked in a private parking lot. The victim’s vehicle was unlocked during the time of this incident. The victim reported that their purse, containing credit cards and other miscellaneous items, was removed from her vehicle. The suspect(s) left the area in a white colored BMW SUV, which was later discovered to be a stolen motor vehicle from another jurisdiction. Following this incident, the victim's credit cards were fraudulently used numerous times. These charges totaled an approximate value of $2,100.

On June 30 at 2:47 p.m.: A resident of the 400 block of Roanoke Road reported being a victim of fraud. Specifically, the victim stated that their pedigree information was fraudulently used to open a cell phone plan. The victim received notice from the cell phone provider, via mail, that a new account had been created with his information, at which time he reported the fraudulent activity.

On June 30 at 7:30 p.m.: Lauren Mullins, 32, Roselle Park, was placed under arrest for drunken and disorderly behavior on the public sidewalks and roadways of the Westfield Central Business District (CBD) near the 100 block of Elm Street. Mullins was later released from custody with an upcoming Westfield Municipal Court date.

On July 1 at 11:22 a.m.: A victim in the area of the 200 block of Golf Edge reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked legally in the roadway. Specifically, the victim's vehicle was burglarized by unknown suspects who were operating a stolen BMW SUV in the area. The victim reported that the suspects removed a purse, which contained multiple cell phones and currency, having an approximate total value of $3,200.

On July 3 at 1 p.m.: A business owner of a junk removal company reported an incident of theft. According to the owner, his company had an advertisement sign displayed on the front lawn of a property located in the 1000 block of Rahway Avenue. On July 3 during the early morning hours, an unknown suspect(s) stole the sign and fled the area. The owner estimated the value of the stolen sign to be approximately $150.

On July 4 at 10:56 a.m.: A resident of the 100 block of West Dudley Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. The complainant states they paid an unknown person via Zelle $650 for four Jets tickets and a parking pass, later discovering the tickets and pass were non-existent.

On July 4 at 1:24 p.m.: A 30-year-old Garwood man was arrested for shoplifting $70 worth of merchandise from a business on the 500 block of East North Avenue. Bonomo was issued a summons with a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date and released on his own recognizance.

On July 5 at 1:15 p.m.: A resident of the 300 block of First Street reported an incident of fraud on their credit card. The victim states an unknown person changed the address of their account without their knowledge. There is no monetary loss.

On July 6 at 2:02 a.m.: Manuel Hernandez, 37, Plainfield, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on West South Avenue near Tuttle Parkway. Hernandez was taken to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released to a sober adult.

On July 6 at 10:41 p.m.: Mark Froehlich, 50, of Westfield, was arrested for DWI following an investigation on North Chestnut Street, near the intersection of East Broad Street, that was initially reported by a passerby who observed a motorcycle fallen over in the roadway. Froehlich was arrested, processed and later released with a municipal court date.
