WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange recently held a public hearing to discuss potential tweaks to its garbage collection service.

With the cost of trash collection soaring, West Orange officials have been considering the possibility of making cuts in the name of saving residents money. One idea currently on the table? Reducing the number of collections to once a week – which would end up saving residents a few dollars every month.

Now, increasing bear encounters may be another factor to consider.

Last week, the township held a public “information session” to recap the options currently on the table and answer questions from local residents. No action was taken.
