West Orange School Board Election Results Certified: See Final Tallies

WEST ORANGE, NJ — It's a wrap: Maria Vera has emerged victorious over incumbent Melinda Huerta in the 2023 race for the West Orange Board of Education.

The Essex County Clerk's Office confirmed Wednesday that the election results from Nov. 7 have been certified.

In West Orange, there were two candidates running for one open seat on the board (the term lasts for three years). School board members are non-partisan and unpaid.

Here are the final, certified results as per the Essex County Clerk's Office:

  • Melinda Huerta – 1,911 votes (33.85%)
  • Maria Vera– 3,735 votes (66.15%)
